Itinerary for Hanoi city tour:
9:00: Our guide will pick you up at your hotel and begin the fresh morning with the interesting activities below.
Go around Hoan Kiem lake on a scooter or a private car then visit for awhile in front of Hanoi Opera House. One of French colonial buildings in Hanoi. Stop a few minutes to take photos and hear its history.
Because of the close time of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum at 10:30 therefore this place is the second point where it is the last resting place of Ho Chi Minh, the nation’s hero and located in the center of Ba Ðình Square. Here we We will move to Ho Chi Minh complex. Here you can witness objects and films about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and revolutionary work to find out more about Vietnamese hero of national liberation in Ho Chi Minh Museum. Lying to a side of the Mausoleum is the One Pillar Pagoda. The pagoda has a very unique architecture. It is a cultural and historic relics, unique for its architectural work in the country. Praying at The One Pillar Pagoda is said to bring about blessings of fertility and health.
Keep going until we reach the oldest religious pagoda in Hanoi-Tran Quoc pagoda located beside the biggest lake in Hanoi – West Lake, on Thanh Nien Road, is considered a cultural symbol of Vietnamese Buddhism. Here, you can receive an insight in the religion life and culture of Vietnamese people.
Now it’s time to enjoy lunch as a rest. We enjoy either Banh Cuon (Fresh rice roll) or Seafood Noodle Soup at a reputed restaurant in Hanoi.
Finish lunch, we continue our tour at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), the first Imperial University in Vietnam which was built in the 10th century under the Ly Dynasty and greatly influenced by Confucianism.
The next stop is Hoa Lo prison, which is located in the heart of Hanoi and built in 1896 by French. The French occupied Hanoi in order to detain Vietnamese patriots who opposed their rule. But in Period 1964-1973s. Hoa Lo Prison became the place to detain the American pilots controlled by Vietnamese government. Especially these inlcude Pete Peterson (the first US ambassador to a unified Vietnam in 1995), and Senator John McCain (the Republican nominee for the US presidency in 2008). Now Hoa Lo Prison has intact with many precious materials, science display, and the attractive spot for many domestic and foreign guests to Hanoi.
And then, we can either move the small alley in the Old Quarter – To Tich so as to taste a cup of fresh fruit salad to relax after a long trip or enjoy the special coffee in Hanoi which is called Egg-coffee
Finally, We move to the heritage house – 87 Ma May Str in the Old Quarter. It is a very famous house with the traditional architecture from at the end of the 19th century. Nowadays, It attracts many foreign tourists visiting frequently.
