When is the best time to travel Moc Chau?

This timing problem is an essential thing to consider before starting your Moc Chau motorbike journey. This is because each season Moc Chau owns a different look. You will see a picture of the beautiful Moc Chau fields snowy landscape, or the children playing in the forest plum blossom.

There are two major periods within a year as travelers visit Moc Chau, consisting of the late October – January. It’s also known as the right time for “hoa cai xoan” (flowers of kale) and Da Quy (wild sunflower).
For February – March, it’s when the whole land is filled with the lovely pink cherry blossoms and pure white plum flowers.

If you go from April to August, all plums and peach will start showing up on the plants, so it’s easy to enjoy such fresh fruits as much as you want. At the same time, the waterfalls will be the most amazing thing not to miss here, especially in the rain season.

Besides, from August 29th to September 2nd, you get to witness Tet Doc Lap – Independence Day, a popular festival of the H’Mong people. If you decide to come at the end of the year, Moc Chau is covered with “Hoa Cai Trang” (white mustard flower) with “Hoa Da Quy” (wild sunflower).

How to get to Moc Chau from Hanoi?

Moc chau is not too far from Hanoi (around 200km Northwest of Hanoi). You can either use the public transport by bus which takes 4-5 hours to get there. In Vietnam now, buses are very popular so you can easily find at My Dinh station for a competitive price. The quality is good enough as well.

What to see in Moc Chau on a motorbike?

The land is flooding in the white plum blossom color, cherry blossom, and richness. On the road, you can stop at the gardens. Besides, you will be able to see the tea hills on the valley – they start filling an appealing blue. Below are some of the best sights you cannot miss when visiting Moc Chau:
1. Ba Phach Village (ban Ba Phach):
Note that the street leading to Ba Phach village feels slightly rough, particularly in the rainy season. But when coming to this place in spring, two sides of the street would be filled with pretty pink cherry blossom.

Besides, this village is known as the home to two ethnic groups living here: Thai people and H’mong people. So visiting here means that you can explore their richness of cultural customs and traditions.
2. Ngu Dong of On village
It’s a forest with several caves. To discover it, you need to find a place to park the motorbike and start your trek in the forest for around 3 km before reaching any cave. On your way to Ngu Dong, you must visit the heart-shaped tea hill, a great site for taking scenic photos.

No doubt, it’s such a pretty landscape with the primitive stone network, with a great abundance of patterns of the natural tectonics over ten of thousands of years. They still keep growing today. On the Village caves, these lie in the primeval forest with such a cool air. Also, this is where you can view several types of precious wood.
3. Pa Kha and Long Luong villages
Pa Kha and Long Luong villages are the residing places of H’Mong ethnic groups, and you can find them nearby route 6.

On your way from the Capital to Moc Chau, you will encounter them; if so, then don’t miss the lovely plum gardens within these two villages.
4. Dai Yem waterfall

“Thác Dải Yếm” or Dai Yem waterfall will lead you to Song Lap border gate. And just don’t miss it, especially when the waterfall is really beautiful to look at, in the rain season.
5. Ban Ang Pine Forest
The forest lies in Dong Sang Commune, Moc Chau District, Son La Province. Riding from the town of Moc Chau, try to go on Highway 43 for 2 km to arrive there. The forest is also a great site for sightseeing – it owns a natural lake with a total area of 5 hectares.

The lake here gets surrounded by the green pine forests lying on the reddish-brown hills. From faraway, it’s easy to contemplate the majestic landscape of Moc Chau plateau along with the tea hills and beautiful flowers.
